The life as we knew it series5/21/2023 Suddenly I could see that the immature tone served the purpose of showing Miranda’s growth and maturity over the course of the book. Once the catastrophic moon movement happens though, I had a difficult time setting the book down. Told in journal entries, this is the heart-pounding story of Miranda’s struggle to hold on to the most important resource of all–hope–in an increasingly desperate and unfamiliar world.Įven though I have seen a ridiculous amount of recommendations for this book I was still skeptical when I started reading it because the tone of the diary entries was immature and seemed to be written to a much younger audience. How should her family prepare for the future when worldwide tsunamis wipe out the coasts, earthquakes rock the continents, and volcanic ash blocks out the sun? Miranda’s disbelief turns to fear in a split second when a meteor knocks the moon closer to the earth.
